Canadian Ad Insider ("we," "us," or "our") operates canadianadinsider.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly:
- Name and email address when you sign up for our newsletters (including the Media Marketplace Newsletter and Talent Tracker).
- Name, email, and message content when you use our Contact form or submit a tip.
- Comments you leave on articles, along with the IP address and browser user agent submitted with the comment (used for spam detection).
Information collected automatically:

- Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 3 below).
2. How We Use Your Information
- To send the newsletters and updates you sign up for.
- To respond to contact form submissions and tips.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
- To detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse.
- To serve advertising, including personalized advertising, as described below.
3. Cookies and Advertising
Canadian Ad Insider uses cookies and similar technologies for site functionality, analytics, and advertising.
Google AdSense. We use Google AdSense to display advertising on the Site. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this Site and other sites on the internet. Google may use advertising cookies to enable it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Analytics. We use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the Site. These tools use cookies to collect information such as pages visited, time on site, and general location (city/region level, derived from IP address).
Comment cookies. If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in a cookie for convenience on future comments. These cookies last one year. Login-related cookies (for registered users/staff) last up to two weeks if "Remember Me" is selected.
Managing cookies. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Doing so may affect how parts of the Site function.
4. Embedded Content
Articles on this Site may include embedded content (for example, videos, social media posts, or images) from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you visited the other website directly — those third parties may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking your activity if you have an account and are logged in to that third-party site.
5. Who We Share Information With
- Service providers who help us operate the Site, send newsletters, or process contact/comment form submissions (e.g., our email newsletter provider, spam-detection service, and hosting provider).
- Advertising partners (including Google AdSense) as described in Section 3.
- Legal and safety purposes — if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Canadian Ad Insider, our users, or others.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments from recognized users can be approved automatically. Contact form submissions are retained as needed to respond to and document your inquiry.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR in the UK/EU or applicable Canadian and provincial privacy law), you may have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your personal data.
- Unsubscribe from any newsletter at any time via the "unsubscribe" link in each email.
- Opt out of personalized advertising (see Section 3).
To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 9.
8. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for a professional, adult audience (marketing, advertising, and PR industry professionals) and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
