Do you have your eyes on someone special, and you want to make a good impression on your 3rd date? In a new collaboration between Goodfood and Bumble, the brands have introduced their new 3rd Date Meal-Kits.
The limited time offer brings you three mouth-watering pasta, steak and seafood kits to choose from and get things cooking between you and your partner.

A recent survey by Goodfood and Bumble found that, on average, Canadians feel most at ease visiting a romantic interest's home for dinner by the third date, with nearly 40% of respondents concurring. This is especially pertinent during winter, a season when most Canadians find it challenging to meet new people due to difficult driving conditions (63%) and a heightened inclination to stay home in the evenings (62%), as per the survey. Goodfood and Bumble's special 3rd Date Meal-Kit series presents a romantic remedy for the hibernation season for couples across the country.
What are the 3rd Date Meal-Kits?
- Creamy Lobster & Chive Pappardelle
- Bone-in Rib Steak with Herb & Garlic Pan Sauce, Mascarpone Mash, Cipollini-Tomato-Beet Salad
- Pan-Seared Halibut with Garlic Knot Potatoes, Radicchio & Date Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette

We took a moment to talk with Jennifer Stahlke, EVP of Marketing at Goodfood for a behind the scenes look at how the campaign came to life.

Dave - What has been your favorite Goodfood meal-kit?
Jennifer - My family enjoys Goodfood every week but I have to say my favourite is our special
occasion meals. In particular our holiday meals - this year the Roasted Beef
Tenderloin with Green Peppercorn Sauce Emmental Potato Gratin & Tender-Crisp
Broccolini was amazing. Potatoes & cheese? Anyday!
Dave - What is the best date meal you’ve ever had?
Jennifer - My husband is an amazing cook, I’m super spoiled. For our anniversary he usually
does up a menu card and plans out a 5 course meal (while I sit at the kitchen
counter enjoying a nice California Cab). During Covid he even got our daughters
involved as the waiters. The food is outstanding and the thought and care is what
makes it my “best date meal” every year.
Dave - I am a world-famous chef (in my home), where is my collaboration opportunity to create a meal kit for Canadians?
Jennifer - We always love to see what fellow food lovers and at-home chefs like yourself are
cooking up in the kitchen. Don’t forget to tag us (@goodfoodca) next time you’re
showing off your cooking skills so we can check them out!
Dave - Do you often hear from your customers about meal-kit ideas?
Jennifer - It’s important for us to consistently listen to customer feedback, whether it’s
regarding a specific recipe or potential partnership idea; in addition to ensuring
we’re staying close to what’s happening in the Canadian foodie scene. For example,
we knew there was interest from Canadians to recreate and enjoy dishes from
Michelin Guide restaurants but at a more affordable cost. Ultimately, this insight led
to our partnership with Aloette and Aloette Go. The overwhelmingly positive
feedback from customers propelled us to continue collaborating with Canada’s top
restaurants and develop ongoing limited-edition meal-kits. In fact, we have another exciting partnership in the works, which you’ll hear about next month!
Dave - This is not your everyday partnership, so how did this come into play?
Jennifer - We are always open to strategic brand partnerships, so long as it aligns with our
core values. The partnership with Bumble was an exciting opportunity because like
Goodfood, it’s a brand that helps facilitate meaningful connections. At Goodfood we
also aim to help our customers connect through cooking together, regardless of
what skills they may (or may not have!) in the kitchen.
We also loved the idea of creating a meal-kit specifically around date night,
especially in the winter, a time when most of us are opting to stay home in the
evenings. Who better to collaborate on a ‘date night inspired meal-kit’ than a brand
well-known for its women-first dating app?
Dave - As a marketer, what excited you about this partnership?
Jennifer - As you mentioned, this is not your ‘everyday partnership’ and that excites us as a
brand. We love surprising and delighting our food loving subscribers with
ever-evolving meal-kit offerings, and collaborating with an unexpected brand such
as Bumble delivers on this. We also love the fact that our ‘3rd Date Meal-kit’ is not
only perfect for those who may be in the early dating phase (and actually on their
third date!), but it’s also a delicious, quick and easy dinner option for those who are
married or enjoying a good meal with friends. At the end of the day, it’s about
encouraging people to connect through cooking together.
Dave - Any key learnings so far (i.e. what can our PR & marketing audience learn)?
Jennifer - Listening to your consumer and consistently looking for opportunities to innovate is
what helps keep our loyal customer base coming back to enjoy our delicious,
convenient and nutritious meal-kits. From our research, we knew the majority of
Canadians want their partner to be a good cook (which is easier said than done!).
By introducing a date-night inspired meal-kit, we not only empower Canadians to
feel more confident in the kitchen but can help them impress their date with their
cooking skills... and maybe get them to date four!
