Team Facebook is coming to Canada in the next few weeks as part of their Facebook Developer World HACK 2012, a series of events the social network is hosting around the world throughout August and September. They will hit Vancouver for the one-day event on September 20, no other Canadian cities are scheduled as part of the tour, which is a surprising move considering the depth of developer talent in other cities such as Montreal and Toronto.The event is open to coders of all kinds, whether you’ve developed with Facebook before, have an existing app that you’d like to distribute on Facebook, or simply have a great idea for a social app that you hope to bring to life.
Will we see a Canadian startup acquired as a result of the tour? The first company that comes to mind is HootSuite, but Co-Founder Ryan Holmes has publically said he wants to grow his social media dashboard into a $100 million dollar company.
After the success of our Mobile HACK Roadshow back in March, and our f8 events last year, we were inspired to hit the road again. The World HACK series is designed to bring the Facebook Developer story to a new set of cities – homes to some of the world’s most vibrant and fast-growing developer communities.
