- Gregg Saretsky takes the first major step into turning WestJet into a digital leader within the airline industry
- 20+ year digital veteran Alfredo Tan joins WestJet
We can now officially share the big news, Alfredo Tan has been appointed as Chief Digital and Innovation Officer at WestJet. In this new role Alfredo will head the further development and rollout of WestJet’s digital strategy as the airline transitions from a low-cost, point-to-point carrier to a fully-fledged network airline. He will also be tasked with leading the digital team at the airline’s headquarters in Calgary, Alfredo will begin to build a second team in Toronto. Together, these teams will collaborate in building out WestJet’s full digital capabilities including the creation of a Toronto-based Innovation Centre of Excellence using non-traditional, leading-edge digital products,solutions and partnerships for WestJet. Alfredo will officially start with WestJet on March 5, 2018 and he will be reporting to Ed Sims, Executive Vice-President, Commercial.
Prior to the move Alfredo has been an advisor and board member to several startups including next generation video startup dubdub where he will continue to play a key advisory role in the company’s evolution. Before his work within the startup ecosystem he was with Facebook Canada. At Facebook, he was part of the original founding team when the company launched Toronto operations in 2009. While at Facebook Canada and as part of the senior management team Alfredo also took on roles that would have him continue his leadership to not only open, manage and lead Facebook’s expansion into other markets in Asia-Pacific until his departure from the company in 2017.
Over his 20+ year career in the Canadian digital sector he also held leadership roles at Yahoo!, Sympatico MSN and Bell Canada.
