Brian WongLast Friday, a grand jury indicted Brian Wong, Co-Founder of Kipp on charges of felony sexual assault related to an encounter during the SXSW festival in 2016. Brian now 27 Co-Founded Kipp when he was 20 from his roots in Vancouver. As a result of the situation, Brian has been replaced by Jason Lapp, a former WPP executive.

An arrest warrant was filed in January for Brian, and he has been on an indefinite leave of absence since February 26 at the request of Kiip’s board. Kiip’s CRO Bill Alena had been serving as acting CEO until Jason’s appointment last week.

“We are obviously aware of the allegations that have been made against Kiip founder and CEO Brian Wong,” the company said in a prepared statement. “As the allegations do not relate to Kiip employees or our workplace, we will let Brian and his counsel address these allegations.”

Kiip, which has raised $32 million in funding since its start, has roughly 50 employees and offices in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

Kiip is an in-app mobile advertising platform that helps clients increase user engagement with product giveaways and gift cards.

Step number one for Jason Lapp will be damage control and to re-assume current Kipp clients on the stability of the company and its offering.  Next he will be sure to tactfully distance the company from its Co-Founder Brian Wong while instilling his own leadership style and DNA.
