McDonald’s Canada
has something tasty for people across Ontario to enjoy, but only for a limited time. As part of a new collaboration with the Toronto Raptors and Pascal Siakam, McDonald’s Canada has launched Siakam Swirl McFlurry, this new flavour is made with vanilla soft serve, hot fudge, and crushed red Smarties and inspired by Siakam’s iconic spin move and the Raptor’s team colours.
“Partnering with Pascal was a natural fit for McDonald’s Canada. From his first experience with McDonald’s, to both the McFlurry and Toronto Raptors being Canadian-made and our ongoing partnership with the team – all signs pointed to Pascal,” said Chuck Coolen, Eastern Canada Marketing Lead, McDonald’s Canada. “From the new Power of 3’s initiative, to the fan favourite Beyond the Arch program, to the new Siakam Swirl McFlurry, we’re constantly looking for new ways to help fans enjoy their Raptors’ experience.”
Along with the new menu item, the QSR brand can take part in their Beyond the Arch program available through the McDonald’s app can enjoy a free medium fries with a minimum purchase of $1 before taxes from 11 a.m. – 4 a.m. the day after the Raptors score twelve or more 3-pointers in a game. Not only do 3-pointers help guests enjoy fries, but each 3-pointer made by the Raptors during the 2022-23 season will result in a donation of $133 made to MLSE’s Change the Game initiative, up to $200,000. Change The Game is dedicated to raising funds and awareness to address systemic barriers preventing youth from access to the benefits of sport participation.
McDonald’s leveraged television spots, online videos, social (including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and Spotify), and OOH to drive awareness and excitement for the Siakam Swirl McFlurry. The brand will also host samplings that will feature a Siakam Swirl-branded McFlurry truck, and set it up so fans leaving the Scotiabank Arena can try the new McFlurry.
