Specsavers is leveraging Canada’s sense of humour with its popular "Should’ve Gone to Specsavers - Vet" ad campaign. Renowned for its relatable and engaging creative, the campaign features a shortsighted veterinarian who amusingly misdiagnoses a cat’s health, resulting in a series of comical events.

Specsavers’ “Should’ve Gone Ro Specsavers - Vet” Campaign: A Laughing Matter?

The ad, which originally aired in the UK in 2014, has been adapted and is currently airing in Canada. This will also serve as an extension of the brand’s ongoing “Should’ve Gone to Specsavers” ad platform in Canada.

With over 28 million pets in Canada, estimated for 2025, the ad is poised to connect with Canadian pet parents and remind them about the importance of eye health in a humorous and relatable way.

“A simple concept can be timeless,” says Catherine Walsh, Marketing Director, Specsavers Canada. “Given the strong bond Canadians share with their pets, the ‘Vet’ scenario was a fitting way to continue the ‘Should’ve Gone to Specsavers’ brand platform in Canada. It’s a playful reminder to take care of your eyes—whether you’re a vet, a pet owner, or anyone in between.”

The campaign leveraged media buys across several social media platforms including Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
