As daily deal sites continue their fight for market share, we’re starting to see more of them implement some type of “real time deals” system in hopes that it will bring a unique offering, unfortunately the window of opportunity of being unique in this space is closing quickly.  We’ve already seen Groupon introduce Groupon Now a few months ago, and today Canadian daily deal site WagJag.com has launched WagJag Express.

“This truly is the next wave in the group buying experience and we’re thrilled to be the first Canadian company offering it. We are focused on solving the needs of local merchants and are constantly innovating and evolving our products. This new mobile product is a game changer for local commerce,” says Candice Faktor, V.P. Strategy & New Ventures at TorStar Digital.

WagJag created an iPad application that ties into their WagJag Express platform which allows registered merchants the ability to offer frequent promotions during peak business times relevant to the vendor.  All merchants who sign up for the program receive a complimentary iPad loaded with a new online portal that tracks and measures customer relations.  As customers redeem their daily deals, information is provided back to the merchant through the portal in real-time, and merchants should now be able to be better prepared for the flood of additional business which has been a major consumer concern with daily deal sites.

To celebrate the launch, the month of August will be $1 WagJag Express month, with select businesses offering $1 deals. Deals could include a $1 lunch, a $1 yoga session and hundreds of others, throughout neighbourhoods in Toronto.
