In the digital age of social media, tablets and apps that can do almost anything we need to provide us access to more information, a paper-based catalogue is becoming a thing of the past.  Retailer IKEA announced today that McCann New York has been appointed as their global agency of record for the iconic IKEA Catalogue.  McCann New York will work closely with ICOM, IKEA’s in-house communications team based at IKEA headquarters in Älmhult, Sweden.

The assignment will focus on the re-invention of the IKEA catalogue, enhancing it with technology and storytelling. McCann New York will work with ICOM to evolve and enhance the catalogue, enabling it to continue to be a critical and integrated platform of the IKEA eco-system. The assignment will include reimagining the store environment to include new technologies and experiences. McCann New York will also work closely with ICOM to develop a global integrated campaign to support the launch.

The appointment of McCann New York does not affect any other of IKEA’s regional appointments of agencies.
