Google recently put out a blog post, where the technology company shared they will not be expanding their AI chatbot program Bard in Canada.

“As part of our bold and responsible approach to AI, we’ve proactively engaged with experts, policymakers and privacy regulators on this expansion”
“And as we bring Bard to more regions and languages over time, we’ll continue to use our AI Principles as a guide, incorporate user feedback, and take steps to protect people’s privacy and data.”
No specific reason why Canada was left in the dark, but the company is certainly in the process of trying to figure out how to handle its AI strategy and getting some backlash on multiple fronts. AI continues to be at the center of many debates that will change many industries for the better, depending on which side you are on.
Unfortunately for Google, they find themselves once again in the middle of another controversial debate.
