Toronto Raptors' Scottie Barnes is currently shining on the court as a rookie forward. It's no surprise that the Skilled Trades College of Canada (STC) has chosen him to introduce the Scottie Barnes Scholarship. This scholarship aims to provide black and indigenous students with an opportunity to start a career in the skilled trades.

As a component of the recent collaboration, a marketing initiative was developed which consists of a television advertisement showcasing Scottie Barnes together with Jack Armstrong, a commentator for TSN.
STC and Barnes will award four scholarships annually for the next three years. Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to become apprentices in their chosen trade, with the scholarship covering full tuition fees as well as all necessary learning materials such as tools and textbooks.
The shortage of skilled trades workers has been increasing year after year and has been exacerbated by the pandemic," said Ralph Cerasuolo, President and Founder of STC. "We're thrilled to team with Scottie to showcase the many compelling career options that are available in the trades, and to provide an amazing scholarship opportunity for black and indigenous students to jumpstart their futures.

Barnes has wasted no time in leaving a lasting impression with the Toronto Raptors during his first year in the league, solidifying his position as one of the leading candidates for NBA Rookie of the Year. His commitment to making a positive impact, both on and off the basketball court, is evident in the way he carries himself both as a player and as a person.
