In 2017, Clutch was founded with the goal of offering Canada's top car buying and selling experience. The company has revolutionized how Canadians buy used cars and Clutch has now partnered with Toronto Raptors' Kelly Olynyk.
In a new ad for Clutch with NBA TV, the Toronto local enters a dim parking garage in a basketball uniform for an uncomfortable chat to sell a pre-owned car.

From the very beginning, Clutch set out to create a distinctive brand that often reflects the actual experiences of customers in its narratives. The 'That's Clutch' initiative demonstrates how Clutch offers genuine assistance to customers by alleviating the stress of buying and selling pre-owned vehicles. Clutch collaborated with Raptors center and Canadian Olympic team member Kelly Olynyk as a car salesman in an awkward encounter with a potential individual buyer.
The campaign portrays real-life experiences through two narrative spots: the relief of selling to Clutch after facing lowball offers from internet oddballs, and the carefree confidence of a 10-day test drive period for new cars.
“Car commercials have been the same forever, they either walk through an eye-watering list of product benefits, or show an overly dramatic depiction of a car scaling the rockies at mach speed." said Mark Arvai, Director of Brand Marketing. "As the first challenger brand to enter the used car industry in a decade, we’re excited to deliver a campaign that looks and feels refreshingly different.”
The 360 brand campaign will be launched in Ontario and Nova Scotia on March 25, 2024, across broadcast, digital, out-of-home, and radio platforms.
